Tried parkerizing my Taurus 82 yesterday. Half of the parts came out great, but the finish on the frame and cylinder rubbed off when I took them out of the rinse tank. Here's what I did in order so hopefully someone can point out where I screwed up.
Using Brownells manganese solution
glass bead blasted all the parts
blown/rinsed off all residue
boiled parts
sprayed with brake cleaner (I think this may be the problem)
boiled parts again
left in solution for 12 minutes (Instructions say 3-15 minutes or until gassing stops. Gassing slowed down at 10 minutes, almost done at 12)
moved parts to cold water rinse tank
coated with AMSoil metal protector
I'm most likely going to start over from scratch changing out the brake cleaner for Birchwood Casey cleaner/degreaser, and I'm thinking of switching from the AMSoil MP to rubbing in the grease from the M1 grease pots. Not sure why, but it seems like it would be better protection.
Thoughts?
The finish is not wiping off anymore, so I'm thinking I may not have left the parts in the cool water rinse tank for long enough. left them for maybe about 5 minutes or so.

I don't think the brake cleaner is the problem....might be the type of metal. Usually poor park jobs are spotty with areas colored differently. Never heard of the park rubbing off. Did the park take at all on the frame or cylinder? I have had some parts that appeared, not as textured as other parts, but none that rubbed off. I have been successful with just a 10 minute bath in near boiling solution, pulled it out and simply ran it under the faucet. Then dry and oil. I see nothing wrong with your technique.

One minute in a rinse...if the metal took to the park, it would not rub off. If it is not taking, I would say the metal is not right... Like stainless can't be parked..
I had a very similar problem but it would only wipe off in spots and my park soulution got very dirty also if you found a solution to this i would love to know because i can figure it out and i used the ssame process as you. the attached pictures are a few examples of what happend to me and hopefully you so we can both figure this out.
