Metal source for flat firing pin

I need to make a flat firing pin for an Echasa Eibar MAB GZ .32 semiauto. I have the old firing pin to use as a guide. Every source I've run across seems to want to sell me a 24" chunk of steel, 90% of I will never use. Anyone have any hints for alternative sources of small amounts? I only need about 2 1/2" x 1/2" to make one, I'll probably want to make two since they are prone to breaking in the same area. Needs to be 3/16" thick.

And yes, I know I can buy them from an online seller, but those are also from teardowns and have who knows how many rounds through them and may bust first time out, just be $30 down the drain.

McMaster-Carr

I have bought all sorts of items from McMaster over the past 10 years or so and have always been very satisfied and that includes lots of pieces of metal.

Here is another place that does small pieces of metal.

If you have a metal recycler in your neighborhood it is highly probable that they have scraps of metal that conform to many different specifications.

I would thing any metal shop would have something laying on the floor that out work for what you need, worst case slip someone $5 and you are on your way.

Unless you're already proficient at it, you might read up on heat-treating the particular type of steel you end up getting.

May be better off using a small piece of tool steel rather than regular steel. Myself, I'd just buy a couple of used firing pins if they're available. I mean, it's for an "Echasa Eibar MAB GZ .32 semiauto", that doesn't sound like something you're gonna shoot a lot.
