maybe 1 out of 20 cases ends up with some lube on it.
just enough to make everything go faster/easier.

I just hate that yucky feel. I size 'em then throw them in the tumbler with my special lube off media. Well not really special, I just throw it in a separate baggy so I don't use it to polish cases, just clean them.

How To: Make Ballistics Gel

1st Recipe
Take 1 part pectin powder (same store isle as gelatin)
then take 1 part gelatin powder
take 3 parts boiling water (double boiler reccomended)
Stirr untill disolved.
Add color if desired
A few drops of oil of wintergreen (from baking supply store) can be used as a preservative.

2nd Recipe
Start with 20 grams gelatin powder
add 12 cc distilled water
then mix with 100 cc glycerin (sometimes available at drugstores, first-aid isle)
Let the mixture soak for about 45 minutes, then heat to 140 degrees in a double boiler, and pour into ziplock bags and lay flat to cool. (add color if needed)
add oil of wintergreen works as a preservative here too.

What kind of alcohol did you get, the isopropyl that you normally see is at most 40% the only thing I can think of at over 90% is Everclear Liquor.

I use Glenfiddich or Glenlivett 4 or 5 oz of that then I dont care if the cases ever get
lubed. Tried Witch Hazel once in a pinch but it evaporates too quickly oh well
back to the single malt.

I asked Oxford to look into it. I noticed the "homemade caselube" and the "what caselube do you use" subject kept coming up.

I still use the case lube pad. I found that STP works wonders. Especially when making some of the wildcat cartridges. I also use it to lube my presses. It is a lot cheaper than case lube too! After sizing, I rinse them out in safety solvent, let them dry and last step is to wipe them with a clean towel.

try spray silicone, if it is with carbide dies; and it does not have to be cleaned off

Billy, where did you find the lanolin-with product name? I've had trouble finding it in my area. I understand Briggs & Stratton makes a lanolin grease that might work, too.

I suppose the Dillon stuff is easier on the convenience factor, but I just get a weird charge out of making my own stuff. Even if it is a PITA to make.

Thanks.

I was given a pink liquid about the consistancy of cream by my local gunsmith, he told me it was drawing soap used in the rolling process of sheet metal, the more you rubbed it the less friction you felt, it was the best lube Ive ever used
