Am I doing something wrong?

I just got my Lee hand primer and put it together. I read all the directions and still can't insert shell holder into hand primer. The shell holder #19 came out of my Lee 9mm Die set. Is there a different set of shell holders for the hand primer?

Wal-mart used to carry all of them and I think 6-8 different holders cover 90% OF COMMON Cartridges...2-3 bucks each or the top 10 set used to be about 15 bucks. I D K what they are now.

LOL get used to it. I've been reloading for about a year now and am still finding out I have to "buy some more stuff."

The good news is, Lee shellholders come in a set of pretty much every size for around $20, if memory serves...

You can get the whole set. The red box is for the auto prime. Midsouth*LEE RELOADING PRODUCTS*SHELL HOLDER SET AUTO-PRIME or F & M Reloading Equipment Inc.: Lee Red Box set of 11 Shellholders for Lee Auto Prime
The green box is for the press. Midsouth*LEE RELOADING PRODUCTS*STANDARD SHELL HOLDER SET or F & M Reloading Equipment Inc.: Lee Green box set of 11 Shellholders for all Presses The good thing is if you get the set you can save money by ordering Lee RGB dies. http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0012803213714a.shtml

I got a set of Lee Auto Prime Shell Holders from Cabela's for $15.00 when I ordered my kit. It has 12 shell holders and does all the common rounds. It is a different shell holder than on the die. Make sure you get the Auto Prime set. It looks very similar to the die set. Auto Prime set box is red Die set box is green.

You tried to charge a case without a primer. The powder went straight through and all down your leg and settled in your shoe. How many of you have done this.

Haven't yet. Key word there "yet" I'm sure it will happen though.

Just a guess. I remember when that still happens. oops!!! I mean when that happened. Remember just because your priming tray says it will turn your primers upright, doesn't mean it actually will. Just wait until you get a bad primer. That is fun too.

Never done this. My biggest problem is forgetting to raise the ram (pr put a casing in it altogether) before dumping my powder in the funnel.

The lesson learned is keep your brass separate and organized. I've been buying a lot of brass and had a lot given to me picked up off the range. I'm starting to get over run with the stuff. I was reading on here about washing them in a pillowcase in the washer. That sounded faster than tumbling because of how much I could do at one time. To make a long story short around 200 primed 9mm brass got mixed in and washed. GRRRR! Luckily being safety minded I was checking every piece of brass before putting them in the oven. To make sure all primers had been fired. Good thing I checked first. I also will never wash brass in the washer again. That was just a big mess and not worth it.

That's funny. You made me laugh today. We learn from our mistakes. It is all good when we know we can laugh at ourselves too.
