.45acp loads

I picked up a set of dies for the acp and loaded up 100 rounds using 5.4 grs. of Green Dot with 230 grain Sierra JHP's.
I havent shot them yet and I have never used Green Dot. I havent loaded for the acp in many years so this load is new to me.
Anyone have a favorite load you want to share? Is Green Dot a good choice?
According to the reloading charts I have, it gives good velocity with lower pressures. Hope to find out this weekend.

Hey Snake.
I used to use Green Dot in shot shells quite a bit. I shy away from the flake powder as it's hard to meter in my little dandy. I try to stick with the Ball types from Winchester. I get good consistent throws from it. I like the lower end load from the Speer book with 4.6gns Win 231, 200 grain SWC, @ published 739 fps.

Pop a few and let us know how they do :right:

200 gr. Lee Tumble lube SWC over 4.0 grs of Bullseye. 185 gr Hornady XTP over 7.2 grs of Unique. These two have done everything I ever needed a .45 to do.

Range report
I was worried about the hollow points feeding but it wasnt a problem.
These rounds rocked! They all shoot much higher than the factory stuff and I am a little puzzled by that. Even in a Ruger P345 they shot high. I actually prefer that. I dont like the front site covering the target.
Overall, they were great. A much sharper recoil but the gain in velocity is worth it. I might drop the charge down a few tenths but the hollow points destroy the target and do it with some impressive results.

I've used 230 gr bullet and 5.0 grains of bullseye in my .45acp for years.

I just loaded my 45s the same way...230gr FMJs with 5.4gr Green Dot. Ran 50 of them on my range and yup, they do climb...backed off to a 5.2 on the next batch and they were dead on...

:full:
