Trading bullets, cases, etc..

Billy recently asked a question about bullet weight that prompted me to post this suggestion. Reloading is all about getting the right combination of components, but they can get expensive during the testing phase. My idea is, why not trade components between members? Obviously, powder and primers wouldn't apply unless members met FTF to exchange, but cases, bullets, and even reloading tools could be exchanged for the benefit of all. I envision this system working like this:
Member A (O.K...billy) wants to try a 168 gr. HPBT in his new toy while working up a target load, so he posts a request for 168 gr HPBT bullets and posts what bullets or cases he has to trade. Member B sees this post and thinks "hey, I've got a bunch of old match stuff under the bench that I don't use, I need some SP's for hunting" so he PM's billy and they work out a mutually agreeable swap. This would be beneficial to all involved and there could even be a small transaction fee going to Chris to fund the site ($1-2\transaction on the honor system?). What do you guys think?

I really don't want to dampin the mood, as it would be cool if it always worked. But, I see it being a big headache. At least here in FL, there are a bunch of reloaders that are at the ranges all the time. It would seem much easier to make friends in person.

hey toolman,
do you need any sierra pro hunter 125 gr. spitzer .308?
before i knew anything at all (last year) i bought a couple boxes of these bullets.
i was using them in my saiga before the AK bug wore off.

we can always randomly give chris money.
i dont think he would mind.
it would be nice to have a online swap meet though.

i rarely see people at my ranges so this would be a great thing.
(not all of us live in heavily populated areas)

p.s. i have a RCBS kinetic bullet puller to trade and a lee scale and.......RCBS case trimmer and .........some RCBS 357 dies and ........you get the idea

none of this stuff is junk it is all in good shape in the original boxes

( i take care of my toys)

who would get a headache?
there would only be two people involved.
the guys that trade.

no guns, powder or primers allowed

i have two of everything you would need to reload and i mean EVERYTHING.
except calipers.

You here Billy?

I think we've got a workable trade... Do you still have a box (100 count) of the Sierra Pro Hunter 125gr. Spitzer .308? I'll trade you for a box of either of the bullets we talked about, whichever grain weight you'd like to use.

I've got a bunch of .30-06 and 9mm brass plus a box of Sierra 100 gr. FPJ 9x18 Mak bullets (.363 dia.) that I could part with. I also have a surplus of shotshell reloaders right now if anyone needs one.
I wouldn't mind having a turret press that takes 7\8" dies and I can always use 8x57 or 7.62x54R brass.

Thanks for bringing the buy/trade option up... I spoke with one of our members about it the other day, to see if members had brass to sell/trade. I think 30-06 and 9mm are the brass I have the most of, next to 40S&W. However, I am open for good deals on once-fired brass (from a shooting range or private party) for 45ACP and possibly 44 Mag. I'd like to trade/buy brass with the same head stamp.

I think it sounds good except I just am not a trusting person when it comes to brass and have learned the hard way once fired means once, twice and more. This is okay if someone is loading way under max but when they are loading max it gets, well, hairy.Trading bullets and accessories sounds great. But I would say buyer be ware when it comes to brass. It might be ok if we have the right to post any bad deals and the name of the badboy. sam.

Points well taken Sam, and concerns of mine as well. Finding a trusted source, aside from new, isn't easy.

I'll trade you a box (100) of your Sierra 125gr. Pro Hunter .308 for either of my boxes (100) Sierra 165gr. HP/BT #2140 or 185gr. Competition Matchking HP/BT #2220 .308 bullets. You pick which you'd like. Both are excellent target bullets; especially the 185gr. for long range shots.

Peer pressure...an old but very effective motivator.

maybe we should each make a list of what we have.
and then P.M. each other for the details?
does that sound ok?
because this could get all messed up in a hurry with all the odds n ends folks have.
i have a shopping list of stuff i dont need.

There is a site that is dedicated to just this idea. I use the same handle there and have made several deals with no problem.

Welcome to Ammo Brass Trader
