| Hog load for 357 Mag Marlin
I need a good hog load from someone who has been there and done that.. I want to use 160 gr hardcast bullets with gas check and have numerous powder options.. I don't want a super hot load, nothing dangerous, just something that will penetrate a hog (200lbs) thru and thru. I also have 500 158 gr remington HP's..I have all of the reloaders manuals etc but need someone to give info on a load that works and is accurate...

My limited experience with .357,s ,the heavy cast bullets were the deep penetraters We never loaded hot tho.Light hp,s lack penetration. We also used flat points or semi-wadcutters.That is what we use in larger cals.too. sam.

Try a load of H 110, N-110, or 296 that gives around 1100 fps. These powders work for me for full-power .357 loads. There is a tendency to use faster powders like Unique with cast bullets. My experience has been that fast powders tend to peak pressure quickly and unexpectedly. Thus my use of the ball powders.
