Simple ??

Is there a powder that will push a 150gr, .308 bullet out of a 20" bbl, and use all the powder?

Several, they run in the medium/fast burning range. They range in the class of AA2015,RE7,IMR3031,H322,AA2230,H335,IMR4895,IMR406 4,.It isnt getting all of the powder to burn,it,s building too much pressure that you have to watch. sam.

I see Mooseman says IMR 3031.It is one of the greatest powders for shorter barrels and limited capacity casings such as .308,.243,and .22-250.It is an extruded powder and now they make it in IMR3031sc or short cut, which will work in some dispensers.I like it better than the standard. sam.

You can use the Powley computer, or one of the software simulations, to choose an appropriate powder for shorter barrels. The ones Sam lists are good choices. Unfortunately I am on the other side of the world from my reference materials right now, or I would run the calculations. Send me an email or a private message and I will do so when I get home next week.

I know it works well in shorter barreled .308 being it is one of the fastest IMR powders... and it has a great accuracy record....even in barrels as short as 16 inches.

I use AA 2520 and Hodgdon H4895 almost exclusively in most of my rifle loads. H4895 works very well in my 18.5" barrel M-44.
