Double regulation Has anyone here had any luck regulating a double rifle by adjusting (changing powders, charge, etc. ) to get a double to shoot together? I have a .450BPE that has so far resisted my efforts.

Since they just naturally jump away from the other barrel,I dont think you ever will get them to shoot togather. They always sighted them in so the sights were between the two groups.I still love to shoot them and they are good hunting rifles at short range as they were intended to be. sam.

samuel, Not so, when the guns were originally built they were adjusted using the then available factory ammo to cross at a pre determined range. Often around 70 -100 yds. Mine has the rear sight marked 100 and a flip up leaf marked 200. I think that is a bit optimistic. The adjusting (regulating) was done at a standing rest by a skilled craftsman. Once the barrels were regulated, the top and bottom ribs were soldered on and the gun was then finished and blued. Since .450 BPE ammo is no longer made, I am trying to develop a load that will closely match the original factory (smokeless)loads. Just thought someone here had some experience in this field.
