LEAD BULLET BAN?

i keep hearing about how lead bullets may be banned and /or bullets or ammo themselves may become so expensive that it will become a form of gun control.
i have decided to stop buying guns for a while and start buying 10's of thousands of lead bullets and 8 lb. jugs of powder instead.
i have budgeted $600 a month towards this goal.
any thoughts?
if push comes to shove i can make black powder but the bullets themselves and the primers are a different matter.
p.s. i have a lot of cases.

this seems like something that we should pay attention to.
i have watched prices for certain types of ammo double in 3 years.

I don;t blame you. I wish I could put aside money for both more firearms, ammo and reloading equipment and supplies. lol

The next question or concern you might want to consider, is what if they pass this moronic serialization crap? I've often mentioned what would they plan on doing about those who reload or shoot black powder. We both know there's no where on black powder ammo to put a flipping serial #. lol

As for the price of ammo going up, that has more to do with China buying up the raw materials. Brass, lead, copper, etc.etc.etc... That's some of what I read in articles around the middle of last year. Other causes is the fact the supply is low and the demand is high on some. Specifically the military caliber ammo.

In fact, one magazine (Shooting Times) article I have, says back in is that in 2004 copper was going for ..90 cents a pound and it's now in the $4.30 a pound range. Lead has also increased to .70 cents a pound. This is from the Nov. '07 issue... Two reasons the .223 ammo has gone up is die to those prices and the military using the crap out of it; making the supply for us low with the demand high, which equals to higher cost.

I say if you can afford it Billy, gopher it...

LOL Billy! You better be nice to him. Milspec ammo prices always go up during a conflict. So does the cost for raw materials. It would not hurt to load up on bullets though as they will only continue to rise in cost.

If the serialization bill passes the Government will try to make you turn in all unserialized ammo.

No, I read something about it could only be transfered to family or sold out of state if that state doesn't require ammo to be serialized. Can't remember where I read it, but I know I did.

I don't think it will pass anyhow. Ammo manufacturers don't want to have to incur the cost of having to do it. I can't imagine this as being a cheap thing for them to do. I'm sure time will tell. Anything to make it hard on us I suppose. Those #$%@&$es.

Stocking up on stuff that doesn't go bad (especially when the price is just going to go up with global demand) is always a great idea.

A led bullet ban remains a good case of environmental extremeism and a back-door ban to ammo. Although copper and other metals can be used, the price will go way up. If you handload, you could probably cast your own as well

Remember, all these metals are present naturally and we have to mine for them. Lead metal itself in a stable landmass (like at a shooting range) is of no threat whatsoever.

What the good are all those guns without ammo. I've made about 500 rounds of .45, .223, and .308 this weekend. It's better to be ahead of the game I'm afraid it is going to get scarce.

I've been saying for months now that ammo is going to be the "gun control" of the future. Buy all the guns you want, we'll control what you can and can't shoot.

Recently heard from a very reliable source (State Senator) that there is a bill going to be put before the House that will impose a 51% tax on all ammo and reloading supplies sold in the US. ??? And that purchasers would be recorded and reported just the same as a gun sale. Anybody else hearing such talk??

Called J&G over the weekend and loaded up on 7.62, .223, 30cal Carbine and .40S&W.

Lets see, get rid of lead bullets, lets go wood or plastic, easy enough! The only thing that can stop the spread of bullets are primers, they get rid of primers we are screwed... Only thing that can be used is Flintlocks, I can see it now...

The lead ammo ban already started here in California. The ban will affect rounds for hunting in most areas of state, under the guise of "protecting the condor".

Backdoor gun banning at it's finest.

I'd like to take this time to go ahead and send another big F**K YOU ARNOLD!!!

my office/gunroom is 6x8 feet.

there is a gunbench and a desk in that space!

You are talking about an extreme situation, though possible. I'd pick my favorite calibers and stock up on them as you see good prices on the 'net.
