reloading observations

now that i have the Sinclare comparator as well as the hornady O.A.L. gauge everything is tying together.
knowing exactly the dimensions of my savage 10-fp chamber was the last step .
using the RCBS comp full length die set has helped immensely.
i have just finished loading 50 rnds of different weight charges in groups of 10 rnds. each
here is what my modest set up looks like.

p.s. from now on i am only using new brass .
no more once fired for me.
if it is going to be once fired I am going to be the one that gets to fire it!

i just sold 800 rnds. of used brass in about 10 minutes.

what i decided to do was this.
all of these loads are 0.005 from the lands.
i am going to fire these and find the most accurate powder charge.
then use that and try different distances from the lands.

it's a habit of mine.
i always make sure the scale is on a dead level surface before use.
i have a crooked house and leveled the loading bench and like to see.

Billy fireformed brass is usually more accurate than non fireformed brass. After you fire the cartridge, Im hoping you keep it and neck size it then reload it.

Any reason why you would use brass that has been used by another person? Possibly in another gun? Not sure if this was the case, but if you use someone elses brass, you will have to full length resize as their fireformed brass may not be a good thing in the chamber of your gun.... Seems to me by the way that you typed up, that you have been using other peoples brass. Generally thats a bit of a no no.

I see you have an older Lyman All American turret press. I got one given to me free and I sure like it. Also I use the Lee press for lighter work, I gave $15.00 for it at a flea market.

i could have tightened those groups up if i used my benchrest but this will give you an idea.
