yeah but..will they shoot?

i was given a bunch of these bullets.
i put some in the oven @ 450-460f for about 90 min. and let cool over night.
now they are nice and soft.
i slugged this one down the bore of one of my enfields.
as you can see
it almost fills the bores grooves.
will they work?
lets find out shall we?
i have a good supply of brass and the dies to do the deed with.

You need a gas check. If you dont use a gas check the bullet will vaporise befor it can hit a target ten feet from the muzel. It looks like the enfield has only two groves. I had one like that it made one hole groups on cast and FMJ amo however when I used hunting amo It couldn't hit the side of a barn. Hunting amo has a thin jackit that gets over compressed and cut by the rifling it then peals off in flight causing the bullet to lose its trajectory. I cured the problum by neck sizing .308 and not .311. and loading .308 bullets in my cases. I got my one hole groups back.

Should expand more under pressure and maybe fill the rifling grooves.
That is unless they vaporize before they leave the chamber!
What the H##L kinda powder you using to do that anyway?!!

Was your rifle made by Savage? It sounds like it had a 0.307 or .308 dia bore and you were HOT loading your ammo to the point of bullet failure.
