have fun waistin the ammo as for as trying to break it shooting ammo good luck i think the only way to break it would be to smash it on the ground or run over it .i had a 995 that i found in a dump the owners house burned down and he threw it out the only thing that was reconizable was the barrel and the shroud i sent it to highpoint and about 3 weeks later a whole new gun arived at my door. i say a new gun because thats what it looked like it came with everything just like if you buy a new one mags sling everything. i couldn't check the serial numbers because the old gun was so melted it was impossible to see the numbers.

i think one of the reasons highpoint has the no questions asked warranty is alot of people send in guns that are old and this gives highpoint a really good chance to take apart a old hihgpoint and see what parts are wearing down and what parts ain't.that way they can improve on the wearing parts to make the next guns even better. sorta like everyone of their guns are being field tested and if a problem ocures just send it in so they can see what went wrong and fix it.

I've got a .45 I got from a friend used. It's about 10 yrs old. I shoot it a lot. Never had a hang-up. Works great - no problems.

the only problems with highpoint are sometimes the mags don't work like they should when that happens just get a box of ammo and some plyers and go to the range and tweak the lips on the mag after you got them just right you shouldn't have any problems with feeding problems . i bought a few mags i think 7 to be exact and just one gave me problems after tuning it up it's workin just fine. alot of people don't wanna mess with the mags or they just don't have the brains to do so so they just blame the gun and call it a junk gun but highpoint is far from being a junk gun.

Every one has their own opinion.
Some have actual experience with HPs and some just trash because they are gun snobs.
I have owned 2 HP pistols, still have one. Had the 40SW and traded it in for the smaller C9-9mm. Ammo cost less and I get to shoot more. Both pistols had the normal 300 to 500 round brake in. The 40SW needed the mag springs relaxed so they would hold full count. The gun was perfect out of the box.
C9, mags were fine out of the box, but the gun needed 250 rounds through it for brake in. I still own the C9 and it works like a champ.
I also have the 995 carbine. Bought it used and have never had any problems of any kind with it.
If you do decide to buy a HP, keep in mind that they are low dollar guns, but they are quality guns for the price. They are made here in the USA and have a 100% warranty for ALL owners. You and who ever you might sell it to later. What ever the problem may be, HP will fix it. Period!

Ok, I thought I'd make a joke and say Hi-point... if it jams it's still as good as a brick in your hand, but after all the bad reviews I have to chime in with my 5 Hi-point experience.

I have a Hi-Point 9mm compensated pistol, (they stopped making the compensated) .40 pistol, and a 9mm carbine. My brother has had 2-9mm compact.

Around 600 rounds through the 9mm pistol with no failure to fire or failure to eject.
Around 150 rounds through the .40 pistol with no FTF's or FTE's.
Around 200 in the carbine ditto.

In My brothers 9mm compact pistols "Used pawn shop guns" First gun, around 4,000 rounds with 2 jams. (Then he was broke and pawned it back LOL) Second one around 1,000 rounds with one jam, he said it was because he never cleans it.

Now, the downside as I see it:

1. They are pull your pants down heavy.
2. Field strip is not hard, but primitive as it involves punching a cold roll pin out with a punch.
3. Neither of my pistols like lead.. lead tumbles at 5 yards on the nine even after a cleaning. FMJ shoots great.

The customer service is legendary. I called just to ask if they had any complaints about lead tumbling and without hesitation the tech. said: "Send it in to my attention and I will put a new barrel on it". I didn't send it because it is spot on with fmj and I think they just lead foul quickly.

they alot better than a brick cause if you hit someone with the brick and it cracks you stuck wit a broke brick. but highpoint will fix a broken gun.

My feelings as well.

I bought a 9mm Hi-point just because it was on sale.
It is ugly as hell, even girl friend said so "she said I don't know why you would buy an ugly gun like that" until she shot it! Then she fell in love with it she won't shoot any thing but the Hi-point now.
She will sit and go through 250rds in one sitting, I guess it is the only gun she can hold a tight pattern with (I have a red dot sight on it). She loves to bounce pop cans or a wooden block arround at the end of the range.
I guess I lost a gun.

Yeah, but to have a lady that loves to go plinking with you, it's worth it! If I found a gal like that, I'd buy her two of them!

Thumbs up Love the C9

I have a hipoint C9 pistol which I love. I've found it extremely accurate and suprisingly reliable. With just basic preventative maintenance I've only encountered one malfunction. Where else are you going to find a 9mm which is a blast to shoot, with a lifetime warranty for around $150.00. I know of one person who fired 10,000 rounds through his with no maintenance. Of course the weapon started to malfunction. He sent it in to Hipoint for repairs. Seven days later he received a brand new in the box pistol with a note from the manufacterer wishing him continued happy shooting. I havent heard anything like that from the more main stream manufacturers.

have to say that I have heard many bad things about high point but it is allways second hand, as in someone else told someone else and on and on. So much to the dismay of my local gunsmith I went elsewhere and spent 100.00 instead of the 5-800 he wanted me to spend with him. Got my 45acp to plink with and am well satified with it. I know of about 11 or 12 of these that have been trouble free and none of us has the issues that we have heard. I believe most of the storys(lies) come from people who spent all the money on a c___ 0r a K_____ or a S______ and are jealous of the fact that our Highpoints will eat cheap ammo as well as high dollar. I can plink with cci aluminum as well magtec or hornady or american eagle heck it doesnt matter if its speer gold dots it just keeps shooting. I have swent somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000-1200 rounds through mine and no stvepipes or other problems. And yes we have run it hot many times and with mixed ammo trying to make it mess up. Pretty? YEP PRETTY D----D UGLY !!!!! Definetly not a beauty queen, but I am not going to turn on light to show intruder before introducing him my partner if you get my drift. I have seen several friends buy afore hinted at brands and have heard all their excuses abouit not liking this or that ammo, in fact thats where my "good" ammo comes from. Just like the old cereal commercial LET MIKEY TRY IT HE'LL EAT ANYTHING. I will agre they are not pleasing to the eye, but they do get the job done. SORRY ABOUT THE RAMBLING, BUT SURE AM GLAD TO SAY I GOT ONE. GOD BLESS ALL

I think of them as "blasters for the masses", affordable and reliable firearms for regular folks, not necessarily gun folks. The Volkswagen Beetles of the gun world.

The High Point carbines are possibly a graphic illustration of why some folks say "the purpose of a handgun is to fight your way to a rifle." My 9mm carbine will easily outshoot and outgroup almost any handgun I have (at over 4x the price) at 20 yards. I've had ZERO failures to feed with ALL kinds of ammo including the 147 grain Buffalo Bore +P+'s which are generating .357 ballistics out of the barrel.

I think these guns would make an outstanding trunk/boat/camper/general home defense gun. The only problems I've noted are the stock sometimes "stings" a bit when shot (solved by running black electrical tape around the stock ala hockey stick), the trigger stages somewhat, feels a little funny, and is a little heavy (but no big deal) and the magazine only holds 10 rounds.

Overall I've been very impressed with their products.

Guess I better drag out this photo again. This is my first target with my H-P 4095 .40S&W carbine. Took it out of the box and shot 50 rounds at one target, indoor range, approx. 15 yards. Absolutely NO adjustment to the sights, this is what I got by just loading and firing 50 in a row. I had to start aiming outwards, 'cause I was just shooing into a hole.

Best part was, the range officer that was just ever so slightly amused by the sight of a High Point in her range had the dangdest look on her face when she saw this.....

Now I have a $30 red-dot on it, and it's MUCH more fun! Cheap guns ='s FUN!
