| Hi-Point Carbine
So I have been thinking of finally getting a long gun to add to my collection. My first hand gun was a Hi-Point 9c. It was a good gun, a little tough to break down for cleaning, but it went bang every time. But I ended up moving on to other hand guns and sold it. I have always heard these Hi-Point carbines are a great gun. So I guess I am asking you all to school me on these carbines. I would probably be looking to get one in 9mm, since that is what my hand gun is. I keep seeing 995, so I am guessing that is a model of the carbine. Is that what I want to look for? Also with all the modifications you guys have seemed to have done, is that the best for those mods? Some of them look great, so where are some links to places that sell mods for them? And of course, feel free to add anything else. This will be my first long gun since a little 22 when I was younger. I mean for $169 at the local gun store, and the rave reviews that I keep finding, they just keep interesting me more and more. |

I have a 995 (9mm) and a 4095 (.40S&W), and they're both a hoot! The 995 is the only one that ATI makes an aftermarket stock for, so if that's a concern then you probably want that one. My .40 is deadly accurate and was so right out of the box. The 995 needed sighting in. If you can buy one right now for $169, jump on it! Most places have been out of them for months, they're kinda hard to find. I wouldn't dilly-dally if I were you, someone else will buy it and you might not see another for a long time. Sure, they're not world-class quality firearms, but they're accurate, reliable, American-made, and have a lifetime warranty. They're affordable, entry-level weapons for new or casual shooters, and a helluva lot of fun. Better make sure you can get ammo for it, you're going to want a lot! A cheap BSA red-dot sight from WalMart works great on them too.

I have been reading more and more and I really think this firearm will be a great purchase. Luckly since I live in Ohio and about an hour away from where they make them, most local gun stores have plenty Hi-Points available at all times. Sorry but the local gun stores seem to get the first chance when the guns are made. |

I used to "hold my nose" when I came across a HiPoint .I kept reading good things, so I got a used 995. It's a helluva gun seems like; never had any problems. I keep 2 mags loaded with 115 +P+, and one with 147 hp's.

BRS, Thanks for this Hi-Point thread... ...and thanks to others for adding to it. I too like shooting my Hi-Point pistols... ...and hope to find a good deal on their carbines some day soon. I'm looking forward to the 45ACP carbine to show up in local gun shops. Hi-Points don't dazzle shooters with their brute appearance... ...but they sure will with their affordable performance. |

Will they offer the new-style stock for us with the older 995s?
