| Senior Member ![]() | Massive Layoffs of War Protesters Loom as Iraq War Enters Final Phase 5/20/2003 - William Grim -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Berlin - An already staggering German economy will soon be faced with massive layoffs in the war protesting industry, according to a report just released by the German Council of Economic Advisors. War protesting now accounts for over 75% of Germany's GNP, and the loss of millions of jobs in this vital industry could sound the death knell of the current German government. "Yeah, we blew it on this one," said Dr. Rolf Wolfing, the German Minister of Labor, "We were told that the War in Iraq would last for years, so we hired of lot of full-time war protesters. But now it seems like we should have gone with a temp agency." Government officials privately estimate that 15 million war protesters will need to be laid off in the next two weeks, far more than the ailing automotive, yodeling and sausage-making industries will be able to retrain and hire. "**** those Americans," Dr. Wolfing added. "They've been making life a living hell for us since 1941." |
