Ah, the fun you can have with the blind....

Before you gather up torches and pitchforks to come after me...

I had a very good friend in High School, and beyond, that was blind. He was a good friend and a laugh riot! We never treated him any differently than anyone else, other than to let him hang on to your arm as you walked.

One time someone said something about being gay as we walked down the street. He yelled back, I'm blind you f**head! Or when people would come up to him and talk real loud and real slow he'd say, "I'm blind, not deaf."

One year, John went to Halloween dress up at school as a blind man. He brought dark sunglasses, a tin cup and his cane with the red tip. Made the teachers and the PC types real nervous. One even asked him if he knew how he was dressed!! Hey merely replied, "What an idiot."

We used to go to the fireworks and he would always say, "Make sure you face me the right way so I donr look like a dick!" And when they were the ones that only went bang, he would oooh and ahhh, but he was the only one in a couple thoiusand people that did!!

John passed away a few years back, maybe 10 now, from the same cancer that took his eyesight.

I ramble a bit, but John, I miss ya buddy.
