| Robber employs drive-through plan Richmond Times-Dispatch Nov 21, 2003 As bank robberies go, yesterday's holdup of a SunTrust branch was either creative or brazen. Perhaps it was a little of both. About 1:35 p.m., a man pulled into one of the bank's drive-through stalls at 11501 W. Broad St. and sent a teller a note through a vacuum tube. He wanted to make a withdrawal, but not of his own money. The note demanded cash and threatened bodily harm with a weapon if the teller didn't comply, said Command Sgt. Carl Mueller, a spokesman for Henrico police. The teller complied, sending an undisclosed amount of cash back through the vacuum tube to the man. The building where the teller worked is separate from the main bank. The robber, described as a male in his 20s, left in a silver or light-colored Toyota Tercel. Police said no words were exchanged between the robber and teller, only the note and the money. - Mark Bowes |
