Ranger Andy and the Trooper

This one happened to a buddy of mine.

My pal Ranger Andy the Pervert (long story - don't ask) went to the University of Maine at Orono back in the '70s. His girlfriend went to Boston College. Every Friday, Andy used to get in his Mustang and go bombin' down the Interstate to see his gal. They'd have Friday night, all of Saturday and most of Sunday together before Andy would blast off up the highway to return to Orono. According to Andy, his average speed on the Maine Turnpike was about 100 mph.

Well, one Sunday Andy was burning up the road when he looked in his rearview and saw the blue-blue-blue flashes of the bubblegum machine on a Maine State Police interceptor right behind him. He sighed and pulled over. The trooper got out and strolled up to Andy's window.

"I suppose you know why I stopped you," he said.

Andy knew the Statie had him dead to rights, so he figured he might as well go out with a quip.

"To sell me a ticket to the Policemen's Ball?"

"State troopers do not have balls!" thundered the cop - as he realized what he was saying, just a fraction of a second too late. Andy just looked at him, desperately trying to keep a straight face. The trooper glared at him for a long minute.

"Get the hell out of here," he finally growled and stalked back to his cruiser and left. Andy drove to the next exit and sat in the diner there for four hours - until he was sure the cop was off-shift!
