Talking Driving With Granddad

A grandfather always made a special effort with his grandchildren.
Many Sunday mornings he would take his 7-year old granddaughter out
for a drive in the car for some bonding time.

One particular Sunday however, he had a bad cold and he really didn't
feel like being up at all. Luckily, grandma came to the rescue and
said that she would take the grandchild out. When they returned, the
little girl anxiously ran upstairs to see Grandpa.

'Well,' the grandfather asked, 'did you enjoy your ride with Granny?'

'Oh yes, Grandpa' the girl replied, 'and do you know what? We didn't
see a single dumb basta rd or lousy shithea d!'

I learned how to control my mouth from my then-very-young daughter. One day, as she was getting ready to go out in the street after her toy, she looked back at me and told me, "It's okay, Daddy. There aren't any effing idiots coming."

My oh my, I try to watch myself, around the grandkids, but their fathers still slip, and teach them neat words. Especially the Marine platoon sargeant, and my grand-daughter.

My grandfather was a rather disipline minded elementary and middle school principal and I remember (barely) being asked when I was three what kind of car my father had just bought. The reason I remember is the lecture my grandfather gave my dad when I told everyone present that it was "a four-door sumbitch".
