First Time Hunter

The first time I took my nephew out bear hunting, he was alittle too big for his britches, too quick on the draw, and a tad too impatient. The first day didn't yield anything worthy of a bullet, and the second wasn't much better. Wanting to prove himself he decided to stay out late, as the rest of us returned to camp.
Shortly after dark he comes running inside, sweat pouring down his worried face. "Are all the other hunters back here?" he asked. "Yep, sure are" I said. "Thank God. I guess I shot a bear!"

So he got the bear? What kind, how big, what did he use?
