I don't have a hunting dog right now, but the next one I get I want to be a Brittany. I've read wonderful things about them and I want a utility gun dog: squirrel, birds, and sleeping on the deck of a bass boat while I fish.

Doberman Pinschers: Mine aren't huntin dogs 'less you mean huntin something to eat and then they are on the trail fast and hard, they are very food driven and sharp as tacks, they also are spoiled rotten, they sleep with us and think they are lap dogs. Da'Kari is 2 and a half and Eden is 7 months.

Nah, man. I had a dog once that we had to keep chained because the house was too small and the yard wasn't fenced, and he was miserable. I swore I'd never do that to a dog again. The girls live in the house and sleep with us, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Just pheasant hunted in South Dakota over three Italian Spinonis, a Black Lab and a Lewellyn Setter in October. Spinonis are great hunters. The two year old Spinoni looks just like your dog.

Mine are labs. A 4 year old yellow that is a rescue dog. She doesn't hunt. The puppy is almost 7 months, and has been out for quail twice. She's a chocolate. She's still very new to it, but really has fun while hunting. We hunted quail in 12" of snow a few weeks ago, and she did fine for a largely untrained dog. Next year is her big debut as a hunting dog. She'll have to be versatile. Upland, quail, pheasant, dove, and waterfowl (ducks, no geese). I also hunt chukar, but won't take the dog as their paws end up like hamburger in the volcanic rock and decomposing granite.

I don't know if you would consider her a hunting dog, but my 3 year old Border Collie is the terror of any possum who wanders into the yard. Her companion is a 4 year old Schnauzer/terrier mix who stands back and watches the carnage. Can't figure out if she's really smart...or just plain lazy.

132 lbs is a good-sized Shepherd. Years ago I had one who was 140 in his prime, with jaws like a steel trap. He came over from Germany, too.

we used to play frisbee with a 13" car tire; I'd spin around and sling it kind of like a discus, and he'd snag it out of the air.

My dad and I are forming a kennel called Pistol City GunDawgs. We have AKC registered beagles that we field trial. Currently we have 4 dogs with PCG on their Registration, William H. Bonney AKA Billy, Dales Stubby Tail, Double Ott Buck and Singing Dixie. We also have 2 other dogs under my Dad and Grandfathers old kennel name G&R, Sarah Lee and Cookie. Cookie is a well breed dog and should be coming into heat in early Feb. at which time we are going to breed her to an outside Field Champion. If you need a beagle at anytime and you are willing to drive to southern Indiana I probably can help. We know alot of fellow beaglers with alot of dogs.

After I thought about it I have a subscribiton to Hounds and Hunting magazine. If you guys ever need a well breed beagle. I probably can find contact information out of that magazine for most of the country. Just send me a pm or email.

Im not out trying to make money I think beagles are the most underrated sporting dog and want to help it grow. The old girl Sarah has flushed us several coveys of quail over the year and then will track the singles. And Stubbys brother is treeing squirrels. So you never can tell what you can do with a beagle if you try.
