Hey guys just wondering where everyone in this Great State of Illinois goes to shoot? Im orginally from the SW Burbs (Joliet/Minooka/Channahon) and currently reside in Oak Park. A buddy of mine lives in Coal City so I'm down around that area more on the weekends, mainly go to Buffalo out in Ottawa or a random pistol range here and there. Just wondering where everyone is going and maybe if there is enough of us close we could set up a meet or something at Buffalo one weekend.
I used to shoot at Tri State, but when I'd shoot during the weekdays, it seemed like someone would be mowing or doing maintenance work on the range. Very nice facility.
great range not too pricey I think for the family membership was like $300 for the first year, not sure what it is after that I know it goes down though.

Krazy, How are the long distance rifle ranges set up? I looked at joining ISRA but was really confused about how the targets get set up. Does the range go cold so you can change or is there an alley that you walk down to change your own?

Is that Buffalo Rock Shooting Range in Ottawa?

@aobrien The 200/300 yard range has a alley that they call the cat walk where you go to change targets it is below where the targets are and behind god only knows how much dirt and concrete. The range does not go cold before you go down there as you are protected from any fire. The carriers raise and lower on a counter weight. They are easy to operate, and with the catwalk you can actually have someone out there with a 2way radio to help you sight in if you want. The other ranges you just call for a cease fire when needed go down range and swpa out targets. Most guys will put up several on the 100 yard range when they go so that they won't need to go down again for a while. Over all its a great range and well worth the cost. They even have heated buildings you can shoot from in the winter months on each range.

I shoot at JR's in Aurora, Megasports in Plainfield, been to Gat alot but it has been a few years, all are indoor ranges, Been to Buffalo Rock for shooting and quading. Used to shoot at Aurora sportsman club alot untill they moved to Waterman and jacked up their dues.
I also shoot in my front yard.... I can shoot out to 500 yards from my front yard... or go down the road and can shoot 1,000+ if I had eyes that could actually do that! HA
