Talking Hello from your friends to the North

Hello, I'm new to this Board, but have been a gun nut for a while now. It's nice to see the community online. I am from Toronto, Canada, and am a long gun hunter. My recent accomplishments include my FIRST buck on my first deer hunt last November! Prior to that was our upland game season where I bagged a few grouse while scouting deer trails. I can't wait for April 25th for our Turkey season to open here. I can almost see that "breathing Butterball" now!

Up next for me is to get certified for Restricted guns (in Canada, that's most handguns, and some long guns) so that I can get into Pistol shooting. The Sportsman's Show was through here March and I got a chance to speak to my local SASS Cowboy shooter. It looks like a great second hobby, as well as a new "lifestyle". I'm also interested in IPSC competition shooting and you can count on seeing a few posts from me asking for your opinions on a nice semi-auto pistol.

My gun locker is populated with a REM 870 Super Mag, a Beretta 391 Field, a Marlin 336 in .30-30 (the one I took my first buck with), a Winnie Mdl 70 in 300 WSM with a Swarovski AV scope (for those 'cross the lake' moose shots) and a Winnie Mdl 94 (serial in the 8 millions). I searched for a year for this, since hearing that the Winnie plant was closing. Finally found this at a gun shop near my marina, of all places!.

Well, that's my INTRO. Thanks for reading it, and I look forward to many enjoyable hours reading these forums in between hunting seasons

Welcome! I'm half Canadian myself. My grandfather was showing me his Husqvarna in .308Win that I never knew he had when I was visiting about a month ago for my grandmother's (his wife's) funeral up in Alberta just below Cold Lake. My mom was born in Halifax, which is where I get my half-canuckship.

Halifax is beautiful! I love the East coast.
I spent 4 months at CFB Cold Lake in the early 80's. Trust me, they named it appropriatly!

Nice to chat with you.

I'd be happy to share all my Butterball experiences this spring, should I have any.
