Good quality gun

This should be a good quality firearm. If it is in very good condition please keep it as it is rather than sporterizing.

Welcome Jethro!! Scotty nailed it. I'm sure someone in the Mauser forum here will be able to help. Still have a lot to learn about Mausers myself. Ton of info here though, so I'm sure you will find it...Good luck and enjoy the site...

Sounds Like a Model #1895 That the Mauser folks had a contract for to chile. Manufactured perhaps by Ludwig Loewe, of Berlin in 1895. If all numbers match right down to the bolt and cleaning rod, looks like ya got a good hand me down. That rifle may have a Chilean coat of arms or crest symbol on the top of the receiver. Like a kind of a big dog on the left side of the shield and a bird of some sort on the right also with a crown on both of the animals heads and on the shield one star. That i would believe confirm it. Made for the chileans. And if it has a Tiger-Striped curly walnut stock could be a real keeper. And the guys are right maybe submit a picture,it would be a lot easier to identify. I'm not the expert. Earl
