I am a convert from the dark side!

Hey all. I grew up in a anti-hunter and to a lesser extent anti-gun family. But they made a mistake. They let me watch the fishing shows on the Outdoor channel. By the grace of God I started to watch the hunting shows too! And before they figured out what had happened I turned into a hunter. The quickly blocked the OD channel but it was too late for me. I was an "uncivilized cold hearted animal murderer" hehe. And so anyway here I am.

EagelScout you mind me asking how old you are ?
Now that your a Sportsman what would be some of the game animals you'd like to hunt ? And what guns would you like to own first ?
Remember one thing as a Sportsman and a Gun owner (If you own a gun yet) you represent a lot of good hard working honest folks that love hunting, shooting and guns.
Were under a lot of attack today and our conduct matters. So be a good steward of this right.
Please honor and obey all game and gun laws and in doing so you want give the anti's fodder.
I hope your folks come around and support your new hobby and Welcome to Gun and Game feller...A.H

Thanks for the encouragment guys. This coming fall will be my first time out hunting. I've allready got a 10/22 and next I'm looking at an 870 mag combo with a slug barral. I've got a great hunting and shooting mentor that's helped give me a good start. My family long ago accepted me as a lost cause and I've managed to get my dad to at lease have fun shooting with me, and I hope to get him hunting eventualy.

Oh yeah, I want to hunt deer, squirles, and water fowl. Mostly because that's what my mentor hunts.

I've spent my whole life in North Louisiana, thank the Lord! Almost all of my male friends hunt so it wasn't hard finding a mentor and to get support. I think my parents are pretty much the only people of their kind down here ; ) Oh and don't get me wrong other than their unenlightened views on hunting they are wonderful parents.

Congratulations EagleScout777 I hope everything works out with you and your parents. It does me good to see a young person appreciate the sports of hunting and shooting. I don't think there is any better time spent than a son or daughter out at the range shooting targets with there dad.
This site is one of the best places to learn things. I have been hunting, shooting and reloading for about 38 years and I still learn a lot here. So enjoy yourself and make memories.
