| Checking in from Fabulous Las Vegas, NV!
Hey there everyone! Parrothead checking in from Vegas where the lights are bright and there's still plenty of desert to go shooting in for fun I've gotten myself back into shooting lately along with a friend of mine. We go out to some BLM land and have a blast with our .22s and my AK-47. Wonderful use for that tax refund, the AK I also recently picked up a Steyr M95 at Big5 for 69.95 which I'm currently in the process of procuring ammo for. Yes, it's a bit more expensive than my other rifles to feed, but it looks like lots of fun!My plans for the near future include purchasing a couple of Mosin Nagants (M44 and 91/30 to start with) after shooting my friend's M44 - what a great kick in the shoulder that was !!! It got me hooked on milsurps and now either my bank account will suffer or I'll wind up working much more overtime!I've been lurking around here for quite a while now, but this looks like it's a great forum so I thought I'd join in. I'm also a serious aviation nut (why can't I win the Megabucks already???) and a frequent poster over at F-16.net. Here's to lots of recoil, muzzle flash, and FUN!!! |

Welcome to the forums!! Glad to have you aboard! AK's are great, but Mosins are a hoot and cheaper to shoot. Welcome again to the site. This is a great place to share what you know and find out what ya don't. Enjoy!!! ![]() ***************************************************** All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing |

WOW! Such a huge welcome! Thanks!!! Mosineer - I bought the AK before I was introduced to the M44 and real milsurps. I love my AK and it's all the fun I wanted it to be, but I've now got a special place in my heart for the Mosins, Steyrs, and K31s. GlockMeister and .22 guy - Thanks for the welcome! Roadie - We go out to the second offramp north of Moapa - the Byron exit - and about a mile west of the freeway. It's a long drive, but we wanted to be sure we're in the clear as far as shooting. I had heard that Apex was off limits. Maybe we'll have to get together sometime to go shooting - I'd love to learn about new spots! Thanks again everyone! |

Welcome! I'm in Vegas too. As I recall, there may be some others here as well aside from us who've posted so far. - Coeloptera |

Not at apex, but a little ways beyond...once you pass apex keep going till you get to the 93, take that exit...I think it's 63 and drive about 6 miles...once he road curves to the right and starts back parallel to the 15 you are in blm public use land...got the info from the blm office myself to be sure. There are a bunch of spots out there...if you look it up on google earth you'll see it just fine. So it's way closer that the place yer going now. I ure hope knowbody shootin out at apex..I among dozens of others ride quads out there from time to time. I'm hoping things keep going foreword with the shooting park...that'll be nice. I'll start a Vegas roll call in the powder keg section.

Coeloptera, thanks for the warm reception! Funny, it's gonna get a whole lot warmer here real soon, ain't it ! With you and Roadie I'm starting to think I've stumbled onto a whole bunch of locals - great!Roadie, thanks for the info - I'll have to go check that out! Google Earth it is once I've got fast internet at work. I'm also looking forward to the shooting park, but I'll also probably go out in the boondocks anyway from time to time as I find the sight of an unopened 8oz can of soda hit by an AK-47, Mosin M44, or .22 to be quite gratifying My next experimental target of choice will be cheap (<$1.00) cans of SHAVING CREAM Yes, we pick up everything we take out and shoot, too.Now it's off to the Vegas Roll Call (Las Vegas roll Call...) over in the Powder Keg section... |
