What kind of sight are you using?

I had a ruger 7MM with a weaver scope once that started doing that shooting all over I replaced the scope and problem solved.

This thing has never shot well. No scope to blame.

I don't think this would tell you very much. You would have to rest the barrel on a bag and that would screw up its harmonics. Even a big heavy barrel like the one on your Kimber 82G actually whips when fired. If the barreled action does not shoot well by itself, it would not prove that you have a bad barrel. The barrel is not being used in the manner for which it was intended.

I also question the safety of the proposed procedure. If you do it, be very careful.

Exclamation HAD A CASCADE and it wouldnt shoot free floated or with factory bedding

had to put 2 to 3 ounces of pressure at the end of the stock? with a wafer of card board. then later glass bed. at forearm tip, the groups with federal .22 became ragged holes, would not shoot win, cheep stuff at all target stuff and that dirty Russian target, very good. seems the harmonic balance needed that upward pressure, did the same with the kimber classic it settled in mind you these are sporters and would not shoot from the factory bedding.< >< dk

If all else fails contact Kimber maybe they will have you send it in or know something to try. I was going to buy one of them and then I found a Marlin 2000. good luck finding the problem.
