| Kimber Compact Stainless II
OK, here is my question, I saw Compact Stainless II and put it on hold. Looking on line I see on the Kimber site that it is listed as "NEW", Here is the confusion, in the specs it says the frame is auminum but ibn the text it says it is stainless like the swlude. Which is it and it the II a new model or not? The gun shop owner said this was the first on like it in his shop. So, what gives?

| Kimber?
I am sitting here looking thru my Kimber catalog and IF you have a COMPACT STAINLESS II its an aluminum frame with a STAINLESS slide. I have a PRO CARRY HD II and it is all S/S but yours is not. Hope this helps. I want to add here do not get excited about an aluminum frame, they advertise 20,000 rds W/O a failure-but I was told by a rep its more like 35,000 rds with NO problems. I am going to buy the pistol. I guess the difference in weight will tell the story too. I used to carry a Star PD which had an alunimum frame and never had a problem. Wish I still had it but it was stollen from my truck some time ago. This will be my first Kimber. I love stainless guns for the easier maintence.

I bought the gun and it is definately aluminum. I am sure 20 or 30,000 is more than I will put through it. Beautiful gun and should be a dream to carry.

Remind me...the Pro and Compact models both have 4" barrels. Which has the shortened grip and which has the full size grip?

That means the Pro likely takes the same mag as my Stainless Target II in which case Kimber has 8rd mags available.

I think that is right. My gun takes officer model mags that are 7 rounds not full sized ones. It has a 4 inch barrel and a short aluminum frame. I carries very well. I just need a IWB holster now.

found out there are spacers available making longer mags fit with out jamming up into the slide a la' XD compact. Cool so second carry mag will be full sized.

tie for a range report. At 15 yards I fireds hte first 3 shots and they formed a cloverleaf in the 10 ring. Then on shot 4 no hole. Shot five no more holes. After putting all five through the same holes I went home. Went back and finished the first 100 with no problems except I know I will put hogue grips on it soon.

Well, I got the gun and added the two improvement I thought it needed, nightsights and Hogue wraparound. It shoot like a dream and carries easy. I am very satisfied. I did have a scare the first time I fired it. The first 3 shots made a nice close cloverleaf I said wow until I I fired a 4th shot and there ws no hole. Then I realized that it went through the other three. Wow! Now if I could just do that every time.
