Mine is the original Stainless Gold Match (not II) that didn't havve the block. I love this gun and carry it often. My opinion is the block was put in to make peace with the lawyers. 1911s have been carried safely for about the last 100 years without a firing pin block until the lawyers got involved.

A person is always subject to risk with a modified firearm. That said the primary reason for the firing pin block is to not allow the firing pin to go forward striking the primer in the event of the weapon being dropped (especially on it's front end) A lighter weight titanium firing pin with a stronger firing pin spring may lessen the occurance of this happening in non firing pin block guns. Ie. Springfield, Colt and clone series 70, Kimber Series I. |
