Cool Kimber recommendations!!!

I am new to these forums, but I wanted to get everyone's opinions. I am wanting to purchase a Kimber for some target shooting and also for carry as an LEO, I just wondered what Kimber Model everyone thought would be the best.

I am thinking of the TLE-RL II, but am open to suggestions, I like the idea of a light rail because I work midnights.

Thanks for your advice.

I own the desert warrior and it's the only kimber I've fired. I can say that it's very accurate and I've replaced the standard grips with Hogue wraparound grips and it feels awesome and they only cost me $30! Only disadvantage with you being an LEO is the highest mag capacity I've been able to find is 10 round, but hey when you are launching a huge chunk of lead very accurately you don't need that many rounds! Also the finish on the warrior and desert warrior is supposed to be indestructible.

I love my Kimber TLE II in .45 ACP. Its got night sights, and is in 4" Commander style configuration. It came with rubber grips, and front checkering pattern on the front grip strap. No accessory rail. You could always opt for Crimson Trace laser grips too. I have a pair of Hogue grips that I switch on my Springfield Armory 1911 and Kimber. But for the time being, I have a pair of oak stained grips I made and put on my Kimber.

If you're looking for a hi-cap 1911 style pistol, Para Ordnance makes some, and even in double action. I think Springfield Armory has a hi-cap model too. There are plenty of other hi-cap .45s out there, but if you're looking 1911, I'll stop there. The Kimber mag that came with mine works great. I bought some Chip McCormick 8 rd mags, and have had no problems with any of them.

As far as a light rail, I guess you'd have to consider what kind of carry rig you'd need, and if it can be drawn quickly. I don't know because I don't care for the accessory rail. IMO, it just gets in my way so I don't own any guns with one. I had a Taurus PT92, and it had a rail on it. Wouldn't fit in any of the military 1911 holsters I had that I would carry it in sometimes. But keep us posted on what you do!

With Oak grips

With stock rubber panel grips

First things first. Hello and welcome to G&G DanoC15.

As for a recommendation, I like the one you're thinking of already. The TLE-II.
So I'll 2nd that choice. But I like the Covert model myself. The Pro-Covert that is. This one here:>>>

Kimber - Continuing The Legacy

As for a 2nd choice, and factoring n you'd like it for both target and carry, this one here would have to be my 2nd suggestion:>>>

The Pro TLE/RL II
Kimber - Continuing The Legacy

But with Kimber, and to be honest, with Para, STI, S&W, Sig, Wilcson Combat and a few others, THERE'S A LOT TO CHOOSE FROM!

I'd love to get and have a Kimber. The Pro-Cover I linked for you above is and has been on my wishlist for some time now.

Good luck...

I've owned a Kimber Warrior and a Pro Carry. I can't say enough about either model. With you being an LEO, I would suggest the Warrior, as it has the rail and the extra inch of barrel can't hurt.

Don't know what kind of or how much low light training your outfit does, but If you do get the rail and put a light on it be sure and train with it in low light and don't get in the habit ,like some do, of using the pistol as a flashlight.

I don't think you can go wrong with a Kimber. Mine is a custom target, but I bought mine when they only offered about 3 different models.
