I just picked up a Kimber Custom II and I was wondering if it's easy to change the sights. I'd like to switch over to Heinie Straight Eights. What tools would I need?

They are in a dovetail and should be fairly easy to change. Use a sight pusher or if nothing else a brass punch to push them out of the dovetail. Slide the new sights in.

Just like Pumpkinheavr described, use a brass punch and a small hammer to tap them out of the dovetail.

Is a sight pusher available that is adjustable for width ??

The rear sight houses part of the Schwartz system below it on the custom II.
I ahve not had the sight off, but would be aware of it.

BTW, I don't require a bushing wrench to dissasemble the Kimber, it was just left out of the box and they were kind enough to send me one.

Having never changed sights before, how do I ensure everything is dead aligned, or is it trial and error?

The only think I can think of is if your sights that you currently have are on-target mark with a piece of chalk or something the edges/groove of the sights and then put in your new sights. But be sure when you put your new sights in/take your old sights off to push at the sight base and not the top..
