real good. when I made it I didn't intend for it to be a thrower but it ended up being a good one. so far it has 1 armadillo to its credit.

those are stainless steel blade blanks I bought from Jantz Supply. (a good source of knife making supplies) the picture doesn't do them justice, they look a lot better in real life.

You can take the brittle (hardness) out of a file by placing it in a large coffee can full of red hot charcoal....add more charcoal when the first batch gets a bit low and then just let it burn over night or until cool enough to handle.....It can then be worked prior to the next heat treatment.

^ those were a set of 3 small Gil Hibbens throwers. I thought they were too small and light to throw so I put some handle scales on them. my daughters carried them in the woods when they were little.

Current issue of Backwoodsman magazine has an article by a guy who makes knives from the stainless steel rods out of old shocks. He says they turn out pretty good. Apparently he does his own forge work on them

Those Bastard files have GREAT spring steel, and make for amazing knife blades. I made one in Shop class without permission from the teacher, and instead of telling anyone, he made me give him the knife .

congratulations... very nice
The long one, seems like a kind of "machete"..
and very nice bowies too...
I make knives too (but only grips and holsters)... I will put photos of them

Hello friends,

Making knives at home is an art form for the serious collector and a hobby for others. People who enjoy the challenge of pairing a unique design with a functioning knife appreciate the techniques required for this process. Homemade knives can be as simple as a blade with a grip or as complicated as a curved utensil with a hand carved, intricately designed work of art as a handle. Homemade knife enthusiasts will tell you that the best part of making their own knives lies in executing the design of their choice.

Thanks and Regards
Daniel Rizzo
