| hey guys. i have found a few of my old knives while exploring my basement the other day. i had these since i was a little kid but over time they just seem to have found they're way into an old wooden box to be hidden away. i was going to put them back but im thinking about actually keeping and using them. they're fairly cheap knives, though, and i dont know if they can stand up to every day wear and tear, especially due to the fact that i sometimes wood carve. so my question is: what are things to look for when determining the quality of the knife? i found 3 of them, mostly novelties. one is a survival knife my father gave me, i love this knife! used to take it on camping trips all the time, has everything from compass to spearhead to slingshot !(if any one knows the model and manufacturer let me know). the second is a copy of the british commando knife made in pakistan. and the third is a small pocket knife, sharp as hell. here are some pictures: http://img224.exs.cx/img224/4062/com...dsheath6my.jpg http://img94.exs.cx/img94/516/blade3yb.jpg http://img177.exs.cx/img177/7636/pocketknife5vj.jpg http://img177.exs.cx/img177/7776/she...alknife8jh.jpg http://img177.exs.cx/img177/6766/survivalblade0ct.jpg |

| Hmm...I like the brit commando. I've always wanted to get one, but can't comment on the Pakistan one. I remember reading all those brit "commando" comics as a kid - the kid next door was from across the pond - they were fun :right: |

| Senior Member | The survival knife is made by Tomahawk cutlery. I have a couple knives from them I thought the company was older but I found this on United Cutlery's site "As a sister company of United Cutlery, Tomahawk Trading Company, LLC, was founded in 2003, to provide an additional source for cutlery customers worldwide. Tomahawk’s goal is to supply high quality imported cutlery products at the most economical price. Their extensive line includes fantasy, historical and martial arts swords, pocket, folding and novelty knives designed for the price sensitive consumer" These knives are fairly well built, as for the others, I would just throw the Spyderco knock off away, and the commando would make a good thrower for some back yard fun.
