Camillus,I believe is closed now too as of last year. Schrade to is long gone.
It is getting exstremly difficult to find anything made in the USA no matter what the item is, despise what some beleive there are a hell of alot of outsourcing with other "US" knife companies.
Way of the world, we as US citizens want/need cheap or lowest price we can get and that often takes money out of the US and sent to another country or we can spend a bit more and keep it within the country on US made items.
Its a personal choice, sometimes we have to do what we must to survive, altho i do tend to stay away from the great chinese Walmart if i can help it.

If ya want an American made slipjoint, go with Queen Cutlery. They also make the high end Mooremakers, some KBAR and a whole bunch of other brands. Most are D2 toolsteel or 1095. Prices aren't bad either.
Made in Titusville Pa. since 1890some.

I'm a heretic, about knives, I guess. My best ever pocket knife, which I have still, is a no name brand, "Paki Rust Monster" that I bought on the way to a small boat sailing vacation when I realized i didn't have a pocket knife. I bought it at a truck stop in Alabama for about six bucks. It has two blades, and a laminated wood handle with brass furniture.

It has bee with me for a more than a decade, surviving (literally) ship wreak, weeks of lining in the woods, use for all sorts of things that are bad for pocket knives, and use as my main kitchen tool when I didn't bother to be civilized.

I souldn't be worried too much about brands, as most name brands have failed me badly, at times I needed them.

I rotate my EDC between Buck, Uncle Henry, and Puma. I like the old black handle Buck pocket knives and all of the Uncle Henry folders. I have several Buck single lock blade patterns (don't know if these are made anymore) that go from aboput 2 inch to 4 inch blade length that are thin and light to carry. The Puma was a gift (expensive) and I seldom carry it. I do like the mid size Uncle Henry / Old Timer pocket size as they are durable and hold an edge pretty good. All of my carry knives are older from the 70s and 80s.
