New Hakim

Well, I will soon be the proud owner of a Hakim. Since seeing one at a gunshow last year Ive been waiting for the right deal.

Trading it for a PSL Ive had had my fun with, time for something new. I get the rifle and 1000 rounds of ammo, and 1 box of 1950's production Egyptian ammo that was imported with the rifles.

Pics to come when it gets here!!

They are supposed to be very good rifles, an Egyptian copy of a Swedish-licensed design in a different caliber. One has been in and out of my local gunshop about four times in the past three years. Not because it's a bad gun, it isn't; but the owners have had two complaints about it, according to the gunshop owner. Apparently they had a hard time getting the right ammo for it, and extra magazines are next to impossible to find. I have to admit that would be a trifle off-putting if I were shooting it.

Nurmich makes replicas, but it wont bother me. Its the history of the rifle im interested in. Wont shoot it too much. the guy im getting it from got it from Navy Arms in 91' and has put 300+/- rounds through it.

Websites recommend Yugo ammo.

Yes, its an 8mm. I get the rifle and 3 boxes of German 8mm, 900 rounds of Yugo 8mm, and a original box of Egyptian 8mm that i will never shoot.

First you want to take the bolt cover this slides forward over the bolt and clips into it, them make sure weapon is on safe and pull it back. If weapon is not on safe and you pull it back then the bolt is going to slam forward and hopefully you have the magazine in otherwise your fingers is going to hurt. Now that everything is hopefully good take a stripper clip ( notice the bulges on the side) use the top one and lower it into the guide at an angle, then push the rounds in. If you ever heard of Hakim thumb this is what happen when you put rounds in the magazine and the safety is not engaged the bolt will shoot forward when the bolt and cover/housing is pushed back all the way, the bolt slams into the thumb and it hurts from my understanding.

If you need any help I am will to help and would advise if have the knowledge, these are fine and fun rifles enjoy.

Hey cr107, Be sure that you wear eye protection when you shoot this rifle! You will get a blast of hot gas back in your face when it fires. This happens every time you fire it. It is from the piston pushing the bolt back.

thanks! finally shot it today, very accurate didnt have the camera so no target pics.

the gas in my face didnt really bother me, it wasnt that bad or as bad as i figured it would be. the rifle is very easy to strip down as well. took a bolt carrier to the chin, learned what that little lever does. LOL. forgot about the recoil spring being behind it and BAM! wont do it again!

these are great rifles, will be my favorite shooter next to my garand!
