Picked up an Irwin Pedersen Carbine...Bubba'ed

Darn Bubba,
I found an Irwin Pedersen Carbine in a Pawn shop and bought it today...unfortunately , it has been bubba'ed to a certain extent.
It is in a synthetic stock and it appears that the dovetails were machined out where the rear sight was and an aftermarket Type 2 sight screwed in place with a wedge and a small screw.
The Barrel Band is not Original, and the front sight, and rear recoil plate seem to be unmarked.
The Push button safety is marked IP/W
the hammer...IP
trigger IP-SW
Mag release IP-B
Barrel is stamped "P"
The trigger housing,Slide , and Bolt are marked S'G.
Here are some pics

Looks like it might be a good shooter.
You could always find bubba and shoot him.
Of course there are millions of M1 Carbines.
They will never be worth anything.
Good catch though.

And you have an IP to work with..

I'm closing in on completing the collection.. My National Postal Meter arrived today.. All that's left is to find a Quality Hardware and the hen's tooth, Irwin Pederson, to complete the bunch.. Right now I have 3 spare Inlands and an extra Underwood for trading stock..

I still need to find an affordable (and somewhat close to complete) International Harvestor Garand to complete that group.. I think the Tractor will be easier to locate than a IP, though..

I have a Type 2 Quality Hardware Carbine for sale,I'm asking 900 for it.
I saw an IP for 7500 for sale that was a type 1...Yikes.
I dont know what this one would be worth if I were to do a full restoration which would include re-doing the sight base , welding 2 holes in the side of the receiver , Finding an Original IP stock and Handguard, etc.

Thanks Rich, and I'm sure it's very nice, but I'm cheap and have time to shop.. This NPM is in great shape and I snagged it on Auction Arms for $450 plus $20 shipping.. (still a little surprised I got it for that price)..

I'll keep shopping.. Sooner or later, one in the condition I want will pop for the price I'd spend.

Both of y'all did real good.
A project is so worth the time and effort.
Great price for an IP even a bubba'ed one.

Mine.. Not so good..

I picked it up at the post office today and actually got a chance to get a look at it tonight.. It's not a National Postal Meter, but a National Ordinance, Inc.. It's in nice shape, but it's not what I bought and paid for..

The guy I bought it from is a regular seller on Auction Arms and a FFL01 dealer, yet made a mistake like that.. Amazing!!

Anyway, the rifle came with a 5 day inspection.. 5 minutes were all that were needed. I emailed him and politely informed him of the error. The reply was "send it back".. When I'm paid back for the amount of the rifle AND shipping both directions, I'll decide how nice the feedback will be..

It was SOLD as a NPM, with photos (none close-up) and they guy's got excellent feedback.. I hope he's stand up when it comes to admiting his mistake and my expense..

Good luck, hope it all works out ok.
I was perusing the AA and found a carbine that simply says 'U S Carbine, circa 1962' has no manufacturer and no close-up of the receiver to see what make it is...he wants $1K...gotta watch'em close I guess.

I've seen that auction and I've asked him 3 times who the manufacturer of the rifle is.. Zero replies..

I told him that he'll never sell the rifle if he doesn't tell everyone who actually manufactured it, and that the info is behind/below the rear sight.

All requests have been ignored and he just keeps renewing the auction when it doens't sell. The guy is an idiot..

If that's the case, it's worth 4 times what he's asking!! I better jump all over that auction..

Or maybe, he'll trade me even up for the 2 boxes of corrosive .30 carbine ammo I have?

And again, I've assisted in dragging a topic into another realm..

As usual, ya did good, Rich! Part it out and you are way ahead of the game, but I would go for the long ball and try to fix the problem with the sight and find the correct parts to get it back to original. Keep smiling!

Yeah! Sure! That's what I thought too. Then I started on the lineouts! Then the oddball markings like UN-QUALITY, then the EX prefixes, then the X suffixes, then all the subcontracts, then the.........You are only beginning! You are nowhere near the end of anything except your sanity and your money!
