I'd really like to see how one puts the firing pin, extractor, and ejector in without the tool. Anyone care to do a YouTube video of that? | No-one said it was an easy task and it takes a fair degree of manual dexterity and knowledge. There are many of us here who have accomplished the feat...that's why most of us own and highly recommend the purchase of a bolt tool to newby carbine owners...it's called being smarter than the average bear.
Rondog makes a great point. Field strip in combat; detail strip in garrison.
You really are trying to nit-pick the issue and you are vying to redirect responses to your original question. It's unfortunate you are not open-minded enough to accept what you are being told by the people who own, have used in combat, have hunted with, have enjoyed their experiences with the mighty little thunder-stick .30 caliber M1 Carbine.
Sigh

Reassure that little lass....let her know that my Quality Hardware is steadfast in the knowledge that she was quite strong in the face of battles that modern men will never understand. (Patriotic music should be playing in the background)

Tell your IBM that my IBM says hi and for your IBM to keep a stiff upper handguard. This thread will be over soon.

It looks cool, Always wanted one, its accurate, and it's fun to shoot.
I have two, well actually 3 if you count the Universal
If I use it as a defensive weapon, seeing that my front door and back door are within 25 yards of each other, and in a defensive altercation when your in a life or death situation, I think I could do more damage to an intruder(s) with the M1 quicker than with my handgun, if I had to go hunting for the fool that came in my house uninvited.
But since I dont have a holster for it, and the police have a dim view of carrying a rifle around I guess my SA XD.45 will have to do while I'm out and about.........

Well, crap, I'm just an old softy...

Never owned one but would not hesitate to buy a couple if I could. Always kinda liked them little rascals. would definitely put one in the wife's hands and use one myself. Besides there is quite a history with them little guns and I like it.

There are allot of dead Japanese and Germans from WW2 who may have a different opinion on the knock down power. For its purpose it did well. Not a Garand but if they are coming over the hill much better than a 45.
