Imported receiver

The reimported receiver I described in my previous post, a Standard Products from Sarco, has a marking behind the serial #, just forward from the recoil plate. It looks to have been done with an engraver, and is marked "L P".

Any thought as to the nature of this marking? The FFL dealer that got it for me said he thought it might be something to the effect of "Lxxxxxxx Police," but I have no idea what he said. I was in a hurry that day, and he had several customers waiting for him.

That theory is as good as any. Original markings wer applied by roll stamping, never an engraving pen.

There were a large quanity of Carbines given to the German para military forces after the war. Many of these has various markings and some were applied with an engraving pen. See Reisch and Ruth for more details.
