I need a new stock for my carbine and some new mags. Anybody got a line on a decent shape stock? And what mags work the best? Also, what ammo does everyone prefer? Around me the Remington UMC is the cheapest.
Remington ammo is good. If it is reasonable, stick with it. GI mags are best, but I understand those U marked Korean mags are decent. If your carbine is a shooter, then just look for an M2 stock. They should be available for around $35-$50.

What is .30 Carbine ammo going for these days? I'm in the process of acquiring a civilianized Plainfield Machine and I'd like to have an idea of what I can expect to pay to feed it.

The .30 Carbine Remington UMC I found is going for $27.95 per 50 rounds

Yeah, Double ouch!
You can find it a helluva lot cheaper than that. Crap, WalMart, around here, sells it for about half that. You can get quality .30 cal ammo for $15-20 if you do some surfing.
As for the stock it depends on what you're looking for. Fulton Armory has used stocks for sale...I think around $25-35 but without handguards.
What's wrong with the stock you now have?

Aim currently is selling Aguila for $15 a box, or 14.50 a box if you buy a case of 1000 rounds.
Your best bet is to buy a box or two of each and find out what your carbine likes, and then buy a bunch, while also gathering the stuff to reload.. Once you get a quantity of brass, start playing with loads to see what your rifle wants.
I just bought two mags for mine, one from Cheaper that Dirt and one from
"keep Shooting.com"
The CTD mag was a 10 round won't even start to to go in my gun, cost around $10:00 and came in a box big enough to ship the whole carbine in it and had a $5.98 shipping and handling charge.
The Keep shooting.com mag cost $14.98, was a 30 round, fits and functions perfectly, came in a padded envelope, arrived fine, and the shipping and handling cost was $3.30.
