M1 Slide Stop

My M1 does not have a slide stop pin.It does not appear to be a weld over .I cannot read the manufacture ,it is marked behind the sight. The serial number is marked in front of the sight it is 194XX it also has the push button safety.Has anyone seen a similair style M1?

When you say that it doesn't have a slide stop pin, are you saying that the part is missing, or are you saying that there is no provision for one on the slide? Second, is the serial number marked behind the rear sight too? From your description, I can't tell if you have an early Inland or a commercial carbine. That serial number could be either.

It sounds to me like you have a commercial copy, not a USGI carbine. Use a flashlight and look under the rear sight. You should be able to see at least a few of the letters of each end of the name. I should be able to tell what you have from that.

Got it! National Ordnance. Its a commercial clone. Not bad shooters, but they don't wear real well. The recievers are cast and the barrels usually have the gas cylinder welded on. These days they are worth around $250-$300.

I wouldn't worry about it. The way prices are going, it will be worth $500 in another year!
