Wolf 30 Carbine Ammo

I just bought 150 rounds of this stuff the other week and took 50 out to fire. The bullets shot great, and were very consistently accurate for the price paid.

My only complaint about these bullets were how dirty they were. When I was nearing the end of the box, it seemed as if the gun was lofting tons of smoke and black substance into the air. The ammo was also consistently horrible smelling. I know that ammo never really smells great, but this was terrible. It reminding me of strong cleaning solution, and sort of burned into the nose (I could still smell it hours later).

Has anyone else shot this and experienced similar results? I clean my guns after shooting them no matter what, but I would make sure to clean them extra good when using this stuff.

Your comments are pretty universal where Wolf carbine ammo is concerned. The other caution is that the weakest part on a carbine is the extractor and steel cases are usually hard on extractors.

My carbine would not feed the stuff at all. You got lucky. I generally like Wolf OK, but would not shoot this stuff again.

I should rephrase what I said. When I said that it fed flawlessly, I meant that it worked flawlessly when using the 5-round mag, but the 10-round mag failed to feed often.

I had a discussion with a retired cop friend yesterday that may have some bearing here. A SE Michigan indoor gun range had air quality problems, allegedly from propellant and lead gasses (I live in Northern MI where there are no indoor ranges). If this was correct, then whatever was "horrible smelling" from the Wolf ammo might be toxic, as well.
