| M1 carbine I just saw an ad in our News Paper web site where a feller has a pre WW 2.. M1 Carbine for sale which looks to be in very good condition for $500.dollars or best offer. He states it was sold 6 weeks prior to the start of WW2 in his ad. I don't believe that. If anyone is interested in this gun PM me and I'll give you his phone number and e-mail address. It comes with 2 15 round clips...A.H EDITED I just talk to the owner and he said it was a post ww2 Universal manufacture. What can the members tell me about the Universal brand ??? | Dont buy. Look for an Inland. I think Universal's are off on some critical measurements.

| Thanks Guy I'm not interested in buying it, but I did tell my son about it. He's going to get one from a company that I can't think of the name of them right now that builds them from scratch, they also build and sell Thompson's...A.H |

| Your welcome. Personally, I have no use for an M1 Carbine. I'll just buy a CETME for that $$$.

| B&R you'd be hard pressed to find a sweeter handling lil popper than an M1 carbine. I know their limitations but still lusting for one.

| Yeah, but to me the .30 Carbine won't cut it. I use all my guns for hunting, and the .30 carbine would only be good for small coyotes in MY EYES.

| Or Jack Rabbits, maybe Javalina as well might be fair on some of these Spaniel sized white tails we got out here.

| Lol. We got small mule deer up in my part of Texas, but I dont hunt here. Montrose, Colorado is where I hunt mulies. Dove, quail, and pheasants are hunted HARD up here. I'm in the process of convincing the parents of a need for a 300 WSM for Elk............................

| Well you may have noted on one of my previous posts that I and the Missus prefer the table quality of the Axis exotic deer we seem to have here thicker than flies and they get quite a bit bigger than their whitetail cousins at least in these parts.

| Aoudad does make a fine chili but I prefer the Axis, would rather save the Aoudad for kabobs (Reminds me of North Africa LOL)

| I wouldn't under estimate the .30 Carbine. I've seen a deer dropped on the spot with one... Given proper shot placement, the bullet uses all of it's energy in the animal. I wouldn't go shoot moose with it, but for deer or smaller, I'd say sure. |

| Oh I don't underestimate the round Bravo but at best for good size deer it is a bit on the weak side and yes I understand that shot placement is critical. But to be honest I really just want one as a handy pest popper and plinker. However past experience has taught me that same round out of a handgun is a fireball on par with some of the heavier calibers.

| Guys how did yall get an abundance of Axis deer ? I'm just curious. Are they escapee's from Game ranches or preserves? I find that of interest. Thanks A.H |

| Indeed A.H as are the Russian or Black boar as well as numerous feral and Aoudad, and sika and Nila buffulo etc etc etc, the list goes on my friend Well JoeLee as my father is a twice decorated veteran of Korea and his experiences may differ from your friends, while the M1 Carbine wasn't exactly famous for flattening the enemy it was ideal for what it was intended for as a replacement/addition to the M1911A1 for "Support troops". Adequate power within it's intended range and a large capacity magazine (as opposed to the 1911) and the ability to carry a substantial amount of ammo while still toting your other equipment.
