| Plainfield m1 carbine
I bought a Plainfield m1 carbine in really good shape. It looks to have some pieces of the war time parts on it. Everything looks original and I don't think someone just added the pieces to it. Did they put war time parts on these rifles from the factory? Also whats the reputation on the Plainfields? Thanks (I'm new to the site and glad I found it)

Most Plainfields have a bunch of USGI parts in them. Only the very late ones didn't. That is one of the reasons that Plainfields are considered to be one of the best of the clones.

My shooting buddy has had his Plainfield many years, and it's never given any trouble. They have a good reputation. Wish my IAI Carbine was as reliable . . .

Plainfields were very much considered the best after-market carbine and were sought after during the late 1960's. Many of the parts used were USGI. Hey Big Dog, is the IAI AutoMag III that you are referring to? What's the problem? I have one and it has never given me any trouble (except the slide catch is really light and has bitten me several times by letting the slide go). LOL |
