Great! Thanks Steve, I'll try it tonight when I get home. No Football this weekend, so will have time.

I took some pics yesterday and I can attach them as a compress jpeg.
Thanks again

All of my sidekick's junk guns flew OTD on Saturday but anything worth something went home with us. I guess everyone's Christmas bills must have come home to roost.

WW, please email me your pictures if you can't find a way to make 'em work and I'll try to post them for you.
That's reall nice of you ,thanks. I will see what I can do, about linking them first, but really, Thanks

Tristan, I guess everyone was looking for bargains and didn't recognize them when they saw them! And thanks for the kind words. That white bag carbine was a good value. Wish I had the money. I have an Inland "white bag" spring tube. Rather a rare beast.
BTW I ran into Paul Imbragulio at the show. He was just kickin' around. Hope he brings back that great carbine display one of these days.

Paul came over to invite me to the carbine show in Birmingham this weekend, which I thought was nice of him. Can't go but I appreciated the invite. I'm hoping that someone will buy my pal's White Bag Winchester so that I don't have to explain any more what it is. I must have given that speech 15X over the weekend.

Thank you for taking the time to post your pictures - it's always a pleasure to see a nice early carbine. Is your stock a highwood?

Does the stock have wood over the slide arm as far back as the front of the receiver...If the cut is pretty even between the handguard and the stock (ending in about the same place at the front of the slide arm) then it is a low wood. If the wood on the stock extends rearword leaving only the handguard cut away. then it is a highwood.

WW, here's a picture of the difference between a "low wood" stock (on the left) and a "high wood" stock on the right. The left rifle is a 5,677,xxx Winchester while the right one is a 1,885,xxx S'G'. Hope this helps.

Your barrel band is an Inland (PI in a pennant) probably made by Packard.
The stock is SC-B Sprague and Carlton for IBM.
Can't tell much about the rear sight from that angle, but at least I can see that it has the correct "square S". The picture isn't clear enough to get a good look at the sight pin staking. back the camera away just a bit. The shots will be sharper.Side shots and oblique angle from the rear are best. Your pictures really don't need to be that big either. Pictures on the web only show at 150 DPI so they load much faster and are just as clear with a lower resolution.
Yours was manufactured around May of 44, from the serial number.
The trigger housing at least hasn't been upgraded or converted for M2 use. The hammer is an Inland. Are there any markings on the safety? On the mag catch (front and tab)? On the trigger housing?
From what I can see. you have a rebuilt carbine, but some of the parts may be original. Its hard to say for sure.
