Question Brass catcher for M1 carbine

I'm looking for a brass catcher for the M1 carbine. I've found one made by E&L Mfg. that is a rigid one. From the photo of it looks as though when mounted on the carbine it may obstruct the sights of the rifle. Has anyone had any experience with this brass catcher? Will it block the view of the sights? Are there any other companies that offer brass catchers for the M1 carbine? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I use the E&L catcher on mine. From their pic it does look like it blocks the sight. ( I thought the same thing). Actually it sits a little higher than it appears & you look under the piece that goes over the action. Sight picture is normal & it works great!.

Delta 3,

Thanks for your reply and the info on the E&L brass catcher. Sounds like perhaps they need a better photo of the product on their website. It's likely I'll order one since you've had a good experience with yours. Long as I can see the sights on the rifle I'll be good to go. Thanks.

Why don't you all just shoot on a tarp? Don't you have jams caused from the brass miss laying in the catcher??????

A tarp will work and I use that method sometimes, but I often shoot at a public gun range and due to the layout of the facilities a tarp isn't very practical.

I purchased an E&L for my carbine...not real happy with it. The expended brass will hang up around the operating rod and prevent the gut from cycling correctly. Immediate action to clear a hang-up is nearly impossible without removing the catcher nand there is no access to the operating slide handle with the catcher in place. I had 3 hang-ups in 20 rounds. I think if the device was about an inch higher with the catcher opening enlarged the hang-ups would be eliminated; however the access is still a problem. I'm gonna keep it but I'm gonna do some mods on it also.
