Iver Johnson 5.7 mm Carbines

I am just gettuing going with the one I bought last fall. Had to buy die sets (2) and they had a long lead time.

I found the following with the rifle after I could load and shoot.
1. Piston Nut was loose, possibly worn
2. Barrel/Receiver interface was loose; could twist it in my hand. Did not find this right away. had to shim the interface to make it tight.
3. Someone messed with the Operating Slide Spring as I found it to be at least 1/2" shorter than an old one that came out of a US GI carbine.

Now am ready to start researching what loads are appropriate. Not much history available. I also measured the twist at 1:12, and am still concerned about the accuaracy of this number. Mel Johnson did not use 1:12.

Iver Johnson carbine were manufactured in New Jersey. Mel Johnson carbines were manufactired in CT.

There is no relation to Iver Johnson and Mel Johnson. All this data came from significant research over some period of months. Al
