New Stocks

I was just on Boyd's website checking out stocks, any thoughts on pros and cons of the laminates? My stock's pretty rough and I'm a little discouraged by the price a decent SA/GAW goes for on ebay etc. (more than I paid for the **** rifle!) So I might cave and go with a new stock.
Stock Doc- if you're out there you were asking me about my stock but it looks like the enire thread evaporated- It's got the RA rebuild stamp on it, and the raduis cut for the clip latch has a flat bottom, and "3 M" is stamped under the buttplate below the bottom screw hole. Is it and original stock for a SA 1997xxx?
