My Refinished Stocks From Rick B

Folks, you WOULD NOT BELIEVE the way my two (Danish) Garand stocks turned out that I sent RickB (Stockdoc)(Rick Borecky). To say that they turned out great, would not do them justice!!! They are from two CMP Danish Garands and were in fair-to-poor condition. RICK WORKED MAGIC on them. I have just been sitting and looking at them and turning them over and over in my hands......... so VERY COOL. He had to do some repair work on them also. I KNEW where it was and still cannot find the repairs!!!!!
My wife is not into firearms at all (although not against them), and when she walked by and glanced at the stock in my hand, she blurted out, "Where does that guy live?" I asked her what difference it made, and she replied that she wanted him to REFINISH OUR DINING ROOM SET!!!!!!!!! H-m-m-m-m-m-m..... I wonder what shipping would be from St. Louis to Cleveland....... THANK YOU RICK....... YOU ARE the BEST!!!!!

Rick has done 8 stocks for me. They are all works of art. Not just nicely finished; but truly RESTORED. The last two were real fence posts. They needed MAJOR repairs. I have worked with wood for many years, and have made some quality pieces;but what Rick does is MAGIC.He communicates with you and sends pictures. His prices are very reasonable and he is extremely honest. I hate to say things like this because I have more rifles coming from CMP and I know the more I say good things about him the longer I'll have to wait to get the next stocks done

Jeffro; Hows Ricks prices? In your opinion, was it a fair price? (maybe a stupid question based on the great review) Ok. How much then?
How's the weather in St. Loius? I'm from Pagedale. ya know, near .Wellston. If you need any technical welding on firearms look up my ol' buds at Angelo Welding ( PLUG ) on Wilborne st. in Jennings.

I'm afraid, I'd misquote, but Rick's prices are VERY reasonable. Thinking about letter him try his magic on a beat-up carbine stock I've got. I think his DNA is programmed so he is incapable of doing bad work!

RickB's prices are so reasonable (in my opinion) that they are rediculous. The time and effort from such a skilled craftsman should cost MUCH more (this post is for everyone EXCEPT Rick to read!!) He charges $50.00 plus return shipping per stock!!! I just cannot imagine someone with his skill working for so little, but he truly loves the Garand and thusly loves his work.

Full Metal Jack,
Nice to know you are so close! I am in Chesterfield and work in Downtown St. Louis. Specifically what type of work does Angelo Welding do on firearms. That info would be valuable in my "file" of craftsmen in the event that I might need his services.
By the way, since you are in the St. Louis area, if you ever need an EXCELLENT gunsmith for ANY type of firearms work (small jobs or building a piece from scratch), try OTTO-COMP. It is a little one-man shop, and the owner, Otto Matyska is an unbelieveable master craftsman. He learned his trade over many years of apprenticeship in Chekloshavakia (I know I mispelled that), and is a gem to work with. He is in Afton. If you ever want the exact address or phone number, let me know.
Will chat later. Jeffro (Jeff)

By the way, if you need/want to contact Rick for his EXCELLENT stock work, I have enclosed his email address below. He posts on this forum under the name of "Stockdoc" and is usually (naturally) in the Garand section.

Jeff. I'm not in St. Louis, left 25 years ago. Angleo Welding has done work on various antique firearms that where to be remachined. Their primary bis is welding dies and caseings to my best recolection. Mig, trig, tig something like that. Angelo, God rest his soul, was my neighbor. Sons, John and Dan run the shop. (plug)
Chesterfield is probly all subrubs now. How about South St. Louis, the German part? Small brick homes, small yards all excellently upkept. Travel a few miles north, same homes same size yards and its a socialistic warzone. Whats the difference??? I do miss the 4 seasons. Texas gulfcoast has only 2 seasons, hot and not so hot.
Ill give stockdoc a howler on my next project.

Full MeTal Jack,
Well, the north end of town is still basically crapped out, but the City has built some new homes on the north side, but not nearly enough. Some of the south side has deteriorated, but the old "Germantown" areas and the "Hill" area is still nice. The City has lost an extraordinary amount of population, but the County has gained a lot. Much of the North County population has moved into St.Charles County......... the fastest growing county in the country.......... can you believe THAT??
Best to ya', Jeffro (Jeff)

In Hoston I know some ol' boys who remember Memorial Park as a cougar infested swampland.
Off subject, I Know.
Shot my CMP Danish SA, TE @2.5 in a John C. Garand match this weeked. shot a mean 537 out of 800 pts. Another shooter marveled, I had ammo that could shoot around corners.
