Thumbs up M1 Stock W/Grenade Launch plate

Hi I'm one of the new guys, glad to be aboard.
Can anyone tell me if the grenade launcher sight plate mounted to the stock of the M1 devalues the rifle. With or without the plate & site the stock will have the screw holes or will be filled anyway. Thanks for any input

It is possible that no one knew how to answer you on this.
. I would say it doesnt if you can not prove it was on there along time back. If it was just added yes you will devaluate the stock as most want the hole repaired after that. Hope this helps. Rick B

It could have historical value depending on it's install period as Doc indicates. Also the rest of the gun would possibly be a player, original barrel, etc.?

M1 Garand Grenade Launcher Sight Plate???

They may have been used in WWII, but I know in the 50's we used the "Energa Rifle Grenade" which had a grenade launcher that attached at the M1 Garand muzzle, and the sight was integral with the Grenade Launcher, nothing else was added to the M1 Garand.

You would take the tungsten tip cover off the grenade, and sighted through the Grenade Launcher Sight, to the tip of the Energa Grenade. I could put 4 of them into a 3 foot square at 100 yards, and it would take out most tanks of the day. The Tungsten tip would dig into most steel or other surface, causing the Energa Grenade to shift to approximately perpendicular to the surface it struck giving the shaped charge a straight in hit. The shaped charge in the Energa Grenade was the same as used in the 3.5 Rocket which had an effective range of 400 meters.
