Korean Surplus stuff came in today

Came home and found a 192 rd can of Korean 30.06 on clips (yea I know) and a 800 rnd box of czech 7.62 on my doorstep.

Two questions though:

1: I think I got a bad lot of Korean stuff as when I took out one of the clips I could hear the powder inside the cartridge moving around.

2: How the heck do I get this sealed can of czech stuff open?

Newb questions I know, but ya got to start somewhere

Look at the headstamp of the Korean Ammo! If it is "KA", then it is definitely CORROSIVE! If the headstamp is "PS", then it is not corrosive. Somebody produced a listing of good and bad Korean ammo, not as to corrosive, but as to the quality of the cases and general shooting performance. I do not remember where I saw it.

It is not so bad to shoot corrosive ammo, as long as you know it, and clean the rifle (or pistol) properly afterward.

not really concerned if it is corrosive or not (I'll be cleaning the barrel with some ammonia base solvent) I was more concerned with the gun powder I can hear inside the cartridge.

Is old surplus stuff supposed to be like that?

I just bought 2 cans of the stuff and so far it shoots fine.
The rattle of loose powder doesn't mean that it's a "bad lot".
Go buy any factory ammo, they aren't compressed loads. You will hear that with all of them.

punch set, tin snips, and an iron grip for the czech...careful when you cut it open because the edges of that metal are quite sharp

I have used korean, and it has always went boom and has been accurate for me, but like all surplus stuff, you need to CLEAN, even if it says non corrosive

Maybe I missed something, but what are you going to shoot the ammo in? (Yeah, I know, I should have written, "In what are you going to shoot the ammo?") If the rifle is an M1 Garand, you will need to be sure the gas cylinder is cleaned properly; which means disassembly.

It will be going in my Garand.

I have no prob with disassembly, but which parts will need to be cleaned with ammonia? Just the barrel and gas chamber?
